The Real Racism Towards Kanye West

It’s pretty clear now that Taylor Swift plays the victim every opportunity she gets. Ever since the 2009 incident with rapper Kanye West, she likes to portray herself as a good girl who does no wrong. It’s partially how she goes about the situation, and it’s also partially how the media portrays the situations.

It’s your average story, a black man from Chicago who grew up in less than ideal circumstances, versues your average suburban white girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. The two get into a feud, and automatically, society takes the white girls side, because why would anybody trust a black man from Chicago? Sure, West is now a multimillionaire and lives in California, but that doesn’t erase his skin tone. It’s so repetitive that the tv and news outlets portray West as an untrustworthy man with zero credibility, and Swift as a perfect angel who does no wrong.

This was all the case, up until Kim Kardashian West pulled out the receipts and showed the world that Taylor Swift isn’t as perfect as everybody sees her. She is actually the monster in this situation. Swift used her white privilege as a way to grow and as a way to discredit Kanye West. Kanye actually grew up as a very poor child, as his mother worked very hard just to keep food on the table and to keep the lights on in their home, as he raps about in his song, “Hey Mama.” West didn’t have a lot of money to make it, he didn’t have a lot to support him, but he had his mother, who fought endlessly for him to be able to live a normal childhood. West had a passion for rapping since the third grade, and his mother supported him, even after he dropped out of college.

Swift, on the other hand, had all the luxuries Kanye didn’t have. She followed her dream as-well, but with more money and more accessibility. This isn’t meant to discredit Swift, as she has successfully made a name for herself, but it’s just showing the classic case. Taylor Swift is the innocent white girl, she gets to play the victim, against the mean Kanye West. Swift has been able to make Kanye seem like a bad guy from her constant playing the victim strategies.

It’s typical that the world chose to believe Swift, because they want to believe that this black man is just that, a black man with no real success and a sketchy background, meanwhile Taylor Swift is a poor little victim, constantly attacked by Kanye West, a college dropout.

Kanye is a huge advocate for bringing an end to racism, he incorporates it into many of his songs and speaks out about it as-well. It’s painful to see such a successful man, being publicly portrayed as the bad guy, when truthfully, we don’t see him how he really is. He doesn’t appear on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” he doesn’t have an Instagram or a Snapchat, he hardly does interviews. Kanye West is a private person, so nobody really knows what he’s truly like besides for those close to him. Therefore, nobody gets to judge him for what the media says or what Taylor Swift thinks of him.

Kanye West is more than a college dropout from Chicago. He’s a man who lived his childhood with his mother, and not having enough money to afford nice things. He’s a man that dropped out of art school after being given a scholarship, because he wanted to follow his dream. He’s a successful multimillionaire with a huge name, that keeps getting tarnished by Taylor Swift and the media. It has to end.
